Visual Studies Workshops
The Color of Light with Arthur Meyerson, March 17 - 21, 2008
Renowned photographer Arthur Meyerson comes to University of Houston to teach our first Visual Studies Workshop! Recognized as one of America's finest photographers and one of Nikon's Legends behind the Lens, Arthur has been photographing professionally across the globe for more than 30 years. Known for his unique ability to capture light, color and the moment, is an internationally sought after teacher and lecturer. He is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Santa Fe Center for Photography as well as serving on the Board of Advisors for the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.

The Color of Light workshop with Arthur Meyerson is designed for both amateur and professional photographers wishing to strengthen their abilities to see and work in color. Through daily shooting assignments, critiques, and discussions, participants acquire techniques to become more sensitive to light and its effects on color, composition, texture, pattern, and gesture. The main focus will be on investigating color from a personal point of view. Arthur guides and inspires participants to see how their own unique vision of the world can help to develop and refine an individual style for personal enjoyment or commercial success. The workshop begins with a review of each photographer's images and a discussion of personal and career goals. In addition to addressing the aesthetics of color photography, Arthur leads group critiques and spends individual time with each participant. Daily assignments put classroom techniques into practice. Participants leave at the end of the week with a more dynamic portfolio, a greater awareness of their strengths and weaknesses, new technical skills, and an enhanced sensitivity to light, color and seeing.
